Your regular grocery store may have many foodstuffs, but few or none that begin with the letter Q. Also, you may be surprised that there are, which is why this post will enlighten you on foods that start with Q. Don’t be in shock because they exist. Without much ado, let us kick off right away.

1. Quesadillas

Quesadillas are an excellent meal thin or thick. A thick quesadilla gives you the feeling like you are eating cheese wrapped up in a tortilla. You can stuff a quesadilla with anything: cheese, vegetables, or some meat in a tortilla. Fold your quesadilla into a half-moon shape (crescent) then slice it into four pieces. Prepare quesadillas and enjoy them with family and use more cheese to get the best results. 

2. Quark

Quark is a soft cheese with a texture between cottage cheese and ricotta. Quark is a perfect source of protein and a great alternative to creams and yogurts.

3. Quiche

A deep-dish pastry full of heavy cream and egg yolks and is exclusively served at high-end dinner parties. It is a French dish – an open-faced pastry crust that you can fill with a combination of custard, cheese, meat, seafood, and vegetables. Serve it hot or cold.

4. Quail

It is not your average meat as you might have heard about it, but it has never landed on your dinner table. The most common of its larger species are farm-raised for domestic consumption or egg consumption. According to the U.S Census of Agriculture, 40 million quails were produced in 2007. 

Quail is a small game bird hunted in the wild, but they are also domesticated. Some people call it the Wild Chicken. It has ample protein content and great taste, and it can be quite nutritious as a snack. We might never know why it became a food, but perhaps hunters had to try their favorite game, and it became a dish.

5. Quahog

Quahog is now a familiar food from the tv serial Family Guy. It is an edible clam with a hard shell (Steamed hams and shellfish are the best).

6. Quince

Quince is grown in the middle-East of quince trees, and it is a pomegranate-style fruit. Most of its varieties are too hard with astringent. They can be used to make jelly and quince pudding or wine and are high in pectin. 

You can also consume it raw, and it tastes like a mix of apples and pineapples. It is too sour for others to even bite into, which is why they make jam. The fruit is suitable for a healthy heart, and it can also cure some illnesses.

Quince is in the same class as apples and pears. Its sour taste can be changed or wiped by frost or decay. It is assumed to be the forbidden fruit mentioned in the Holy Bible to Adam and Eve. 

Like many other Bible stories, there is no need to justify it or not as everyone interprets the Bible differently. However, the Bible has no specifics of what fruit it is. Only God knows, so we leave it there!

7. Quandong

Quandong is also a fruit that’s sweet but leaves a salty, sour aftertaste. It’s not only the name of a town, especially the one Family Guy characters call home. It is a giant clam that you can easily find on the coast of Rhode Island. They have very tough meat like clams and are used in dishes like clam chowder, clam cakes, and stuffed clams.

8. Queso

Queso is an appetizer or a typical creamed-up with melted cheese. It is a Mexican appetizer with lots of cheese. Appetizer from Mexico filled to the brim with creamy and melted cheese. It is Perfect to dip tortilla chips. It also doubles up as a quick snack, and it satisfies any craving.  

9. Quisp Cereal

Quisp cereal is baked cornmeal and syrup and its tastes similar to Captain Crunch. Its saucer shape gives you room to add more milk to the cereal bits. The back of Quisp had trivia questions that always had outdated answers!

10. Quinine

Quinine is the flavoring of tonic water. Tonic water is best mixed with gin or vodka. There may be other uses for tonic water, but this one stands for most people.

11. Quaaludes-N-Cream

Mix vanilla ice cream with two bottles of quaaludes and keep it a secret. You can serve it alone or as a complement to Rhubarb saute pie. 

12. Quiche

Quiches are savory pies filled with goodness. It is tasty, easy to prepare and fulfilling to eat. You can cook it in bulk and reheat it the following day. 

13. Quinoa

Quinoa is a food that is high in protein. It is popularly prepared with gluten-free diets. It is a grain crop, and only the seeds are edible. It is one of the plant foods containing all nine essential amino acids. It is also high in fiber, magnesium, B vitamins, iron, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, vitamin E, and several beneficial antioxidants.

14. Quarter Pounder

Grab your quarter pounder at your local Burger King or Mcdonald’s fast food stores. The latter is well known to serve a quarter accompanying a cheeseburger, the most common snack in the restaurant.

15. Quavers Crisps

Quavers are a type of crisply produced by the Walkers crisp company. Potatoes are the main ingredient in crisps, and they are deep-fried. They look like prawn crackers.

Quorn hails from the United Kingdom and is used as a substitute for meat. It is popular in the European Union. Vegetarians can enjoy chicken-like dishes like Quorn lasagne, Quorn tikka masala, or mince. Good News is, you can barely notice the difference between Quorn and meat.
