What is the Sith Code as Depicted in Star Wars?

The Sith Code can be complicated to understand if its description is not accompanied by its history. To understand the code, therefore, a brief history of the ancient Galactic Republic and the Korriban Planet is necessary. The Galactic Republic, which existed over 25,000 years, was a democratic government that ruled The Galaxy. The Galaxy was among the billions of galaxies that existed in the universe.

Korriban, on the other hand, was the only planet in the Horuset System. It was the original home to the Sith, who were trouble makers in The Republic whereas the Jedi kept the peace. After the battle of Corbos in The Galaxy Republic, some dark Jedis, who no longer believed in the light side of the force were banished from The Galaxy. They fled to the Korriban Planet where they established the sith empire and authored the Code of The Sith. The code was authored by one of the fleeing Jedis, Sorzus Syn.

What is the Sith Code as Depicted in Star Wars

Basically, the Sith Code is the dark version of the Jedi Code. The original code as authored by Sorzus Syn states that:

“Peace is a lie, there is only passion.

Through passion, I gain strength.

Through strength, I gain power.

Through power, I gain victory.

Through victory, my chains are broken.

The Force shall free me.”

The Sith Code became a mantra in the Sith Order which capitalized on the dark side of the force to rule the Sith Empire. The code advocates for violence as a tool and means of attaining freedom. According to the code, passion, as opposed to peace, builds strength. The strength is then used to fight for power which ultimately guarantees victory and consequently freedom. The Sith Code challenges one to keep on pushing harder and fighting harder until you take all that you want and destroy the rest. The code is anchored on greed and self-gratification.

It is very hard to talk about The Code of Sith without mentioning the Jedi code. Jedi code is the complete opposite of the Sith Code. It recognizes peace as the ultimate weapon to freedom. The code’s teachings are anchored on the light side of the force. The Jedi code states:

“There is no emotion, there is peace.

There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.

There is no passion, there is serenity.

There is no chaos, there is harmony.

There is no death, there is the Force.”

It is from the Galactic Republic, the Korriban planet, and Sith empire that the celebrated American space-opera Star Wars is set. Star Wars is not just any other space-opera, it has now become a celebrated pop culture across the world. Star Wars is one of the most successful franchises across the world taking the shape of awards winning films and television shows, novels, comic books, video games, and theme parks among others. In all these franchised products, many characters are fictionalized from The Sith Empire where the Code of The Sith was authored and practiced.
